Mission & Social Concerns
Through Mission & Social Concerns, Knox Church conducted two fun “Tailgating for Mission” drives enabling us to provide carloads of goods to Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN), Childhood Food Pantry, Country Food Pantry, Center for Respite Care and Crossroad Health Center.
Deacons’ Ministry
Through the Deacons’ Ministry, Knox Church continues to offer the ministry of prayer by sending hand-written cards of encouragement, congratulations, thanksgiving, and sympathy to the congregation; sending hand-knit bunnies to newborn babies; Prayers for Everyone ministry: praying for the Knox members by name, shortlists at a time, at the monthly deacon meeting.
Knox Youth Ministry
Through Knox Youth Ministry, dedicated youth leaders led a remarkable youth group this past year which continued in unique ways through remote meetings and socially distanced, masked gatherings.
Knox Youth Group, with the support of many Knox members, attended a Montreat Conference in North Carolina. The theme Called to Connect explored what it means to be called into a relationship with God and one another, even in the midst of things that disconnect us. Youth shared their experiences in the June 20th church worship service.
Our Church
The church building that we worship in today was dedicated in 1929 at the beginning of the Great Depression. This past year, the Building and Grounds repaired and refinished outer doors into the building on the Observatory and Michigan entrances.
Did you know that carved into the stone above the Michigan Avenue door are the words “To Make Jesus Central in the Life of Young and Old as The Way the Truth and the Life.”
