The mission of Knox Preschool is to provide a warm, supportive environment in which each child is inspired to fully develop his/her potential within a framework of respect and responsibility. This environment is provided through caring and educated teachers who implement a developmental approach that encourages parent involvement.
Currently, there are 91 children ranging in age from 27 months to 5 years enrolled in the program. Children attend on a part-day; part-week basis with schedules varying depending on the age of the child and the needs of the family. The school is in session from September through May. Classes are offered in the morning from 9-11:30 and in the afternoon from 12:15-2:45.
Knox’s lead teachers are college graduates in early childhood education or a related field and all staff is certified in first aid and CPR. Pam is the Director of the program and has a degree in Art Education from Miami University as well as 13 years of teaching experience. Lisa is the Assistant Director with an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education as well as a degree in Mental Health and Human Services and has 15 years of teaching experience. The teaching staff consists of seven lead teachers and four assistant teachers.
The preschool provides a success-oriented, child-initiated environment in which children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, make choices, develop respect, and grow in self-confidence. The program emphasizes the individuality of each child and is designed to ensure that the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical learning process is both challenging and fun!
